    Billiard Nosewarmer!

First of all, this pipe is "Not For Sale"!

I was working on trying to make a Devil Anse pipe but didn't look at a picture before I started and didn't even get close. It turned into a Billiard Nosewarmer. But still is a decent looking pipe. The briar however had a couple pretty bad flaws. One being inside the bowl and so it's now a shop pipe.

I filled the flaw in with grout mixture and smoothed it over. I've fixed bowls like this before, but it doesn't mean it will work this time. The pipe may last 10 minutes or 10 years.

The drilling is dead on and it should smoke well, for as long as it lasts. While I did open the airway like I always do but since it's a shop pipe, I didn't worry too much about getting the stem completely smooth on the outside and there are still a couple dings in it.

As said though it turned out to be decent looking so thought I'd post a picture of it here and see what you all thought.

Looks good Steve! What is this grout mixture you mentioned. I have had a couple of pipes I've made with flaws inside the bowl.Used "pipe mud" with varying success.

It can be purchased at any home supply/lumber yard. It's a crete based powder grout mix and you just mix up a little with water as needed. Works great as it sets hard as a rock and after one smoke you don't even see it anymore if you get it smooth enough. I used it once to repair an estate pipe for someone. The bowl was a bit too low. The guy loved the pipe when I was done and after 5 years it's still puffing just fine with no falling out of the fill.

Well, I fired up this pipe for the first time last weekend and it puffed just fine. Can't even tell there is a repair in the bowl now. I didn't feel any hot spots and I tend to puff like a train. I'm smoking it again now and think it will become a regular.

I'll have to make more of these nose Warmers. Maybe a poker next.

Nice job mate. Once I get through some more products for the local funiture/interior design store I'll carve some more pipes
