I'm pretty active in the pipe world and I haven't run into a snob yet. I see a lot of reverse, a fool with money, they paid that for this snob crap on boards though.

Tree, you are absolutely right. A reverse snob will turn up his or her nose at a good tin or a good pipe at any price point in favor of ROY in a random basket score. It's not about the money invested but the open mindedness needed to to at least try, if not enjoy, everything pipe smoking has to offer.
Smoke in good health, no matter what you smoke,

You know the old question "if a tree falls in the forest but nobody was there to hear it, did it make a sound?" My question is this: are you a snob if you have nobody to look down on?

I'm willing to try any blend once but I have to admit to being jaded. Once you have tasted a mixture that, to you, is sublime, it's tough to go back to something mediocre or worse.
A pipe gives a wise man something to fiddle with as a means of gaining time to formulate an intelligent answer. It gives a fool something to stick into his mouth.

Enjoy what "You" smoke, and smoke what "You" enjoy.......regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Great read! I guess each is a "joy" in their own sense. Would love to see the two of them in a pissing contest lol

Then there's the reverse snob, who disparages the connoisseur for having (or spending) more money than brains. However, I myself do love a bargain.

Now if someone really appreciates quality tobaccos or pipes, there's nothing wrong with that IMO.
I agree with this definition of a snob, I don't smoke OTC's (unless you count Condor or St. Bruno) or cobs (unless you count an Aristocob) but I don't think less of someone if that's what they choose to smoke, signed...

Around my neck of the woods, I'm lucky if I ever run into a fellow pipe smoker, so I can honestly say I've never met the acquaintance of a pipe or pipe tobacco snob.
Not so concerning cigars - but the very opposite situation, namely, that on several cigar forums, Habanos (Cuban cigars) smokers like myself were constantly accused of being 'Cuban snobs.'
To be sure, when the cigar boom belatedly reached Israel, I ran into no shortage of 'Cuban snobs,' many of whom didn't know much about lighting, storing or even holding a cigar - but were all too willing to flash the Cohiba rings in your face.
No, I'm referring to the cigar forum posters, most of whom were Americans (no offense ) and who would almost automatically refer to Habanos smokers as snobs - probably since they could either not afford them or legally procure them. They were also motivated by American cigar distributors and publications like Cigar Aficionado who went out of their way to disparage the quality of Habanos while exaggerating the virtues of non-Cuban smokes.
This was probably as aggrevating as having to put up with the pipe snobs of today.
