    Ropes

I was wondering what rope would be good to start with? I don't want any heavy hitters to start with. I'm looking for a good starting point.

They are all pretty much heavy hitters, some more than others. I think the first rope or twist I tried was GH sweet Rum Twist. It is good but no for the timid!! pipesandcigars.com has it in stock.
    Here is its description:
This is a twist made from the same ingredients as the Black and Brown Irish X. It has additional Rum flavoring added during manufacture. Again, this is a very strong tobacco as it does not undergo the pressure cooking process.

May I suggest that if you find a twist or rope to strong you can always mix it with something else to tame it a little. I like to mix mine with a Virginia blend, like FVF or Maybe even one if the Xmas Cheers when I want a milder smoke.

I smoke all of G/H twist and ropes , and they are all strong until you get used to them, just take the plunge and go for it, but take your time whem smoking them,if you go like a freight train, you will get hit by said train, and that will put you off them, respect the tobacco and you'll be fine.

So, the blacks are strong but not as strong as the browns?

My advise Dave would be to buy the Black Twist,or the Rum twist, you should be ok , buy your self a cigar cutter for cutting it, if you dont already have one, you dont get the same result using a knife,

Someone sent me a few samples of rope. Today was Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Brown "Happy" Bogie in my new to me Riviera small apple. I followed Puffingthebriar's advice and used a cigar cutter for cutting it into little coins. Rubbed it out, let dry for a little, packed it and off I went. I took my time and had a great experience. Next up Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Black Irish X.
