Family and Friends?
How do your family and friends feel about your pipe smoking? I have received mixed emotions from mine, it varies from they like it to they are confused about it. I have not gotten any negative responses from them at all. All of my immediate family (mother, brother, sister, aunts, and uncles) fully accept it, but the younger nieces and nephews are the confused ones. They ask questions but have never said any hing negative, at least to my face! I get all the negitive feedback from strangers I don't even know. My friends and former coworkers all accepted it, I have even converted some from cigs to the pipe.

Family and Friends?
My parents worry about the frequency if it appears I smoke often, but other than that, no one cares. Strangers don't bother me about it either, but I do get weird looks from time to time.

funny thing about smoking a pipe
everyone I have told, tell me about a dear relative who smoked and the wonderful memories of the aroma's
I have friends and relatives buying me tobacco....
My wife is accepting but not totally happy with it
Now imagine the reaction I would get if I announced that I decided to smoke cigarettes.... I imagine that people would be giving me heck and telling what I am doing to my body... I don't think they would be buying me cigarettes either...

I don't have any problems with my friends, some of them smoke pipes too. My mom seems more comfortable with me smoking pipes than cigarettes, though I'm sure she would sooner see me give both up. Dad's been a lifelong cigarette smoker (starting at age 12; he's now nearly 70 and can run circles around me to this day), and he's fine with the pipe, maybe even a little curious about it.
The missus is ok with the pipes as well, as long as I don't smoke in the house.

They're all good with it. The bride buys me pipes and tobacco. My daughter and MIL don't allow smoking in their homes, but will ask me to light up "that one that smells so good" (Evening Stroll or Condor) when I'm in their homes....don't get no better. The bride is good with most blends indoors, but a couple of the heavy lats have been deemed "not house-worthy". Two of my boys smoke pipes, and the SIL partakes on occasion. All in all, I'm one of the lucky ones! Must be my dashing good looks and sweet Irish charm..............

My wife didn't seem to object until a couple years ago. She doesn't say much but I get "The Look" a lot now. It has never bothered my daughter in-law except the last time she was pregnant. I didn't smoke while she was visiting but the residual smell irritated her.
A pipe gives a wise man something to fiddle with as a means of gaining time to formulate an intelligent answer. It gives a fool something to stick into his mouth.

All the people that matter to me dont mind at all, anybody else can go and take a running jump for all i care, as for my wife, who smokes cigs, she,s the one that goes out side to smoke not me, not thats anything to do with me, all her doing, she addmits cigs smell rank, but loves the smell of my pipe, so i suppose im very lucky really, even when ive asked her y, she replys i can smoke a ciggy in minutes but you smoke your pipe for an hour or so,so you should be sat in your chair comfortable, although i think its got somthing to do with the fact im disabled and cannot stand or walk for long: either way i know im very lucky to have a wife like this.even some family members who dont smoke in there house, when im visiting for a couple of days im ok to smoke in the kitchen, so im a very happy puffer of the briar, but we all have Lamp Bergers, to kill the room odour.
