Tobacco Blending
I thought it would be interesting to start a thread about tobacco blending. I know a few here dabble in blending and thought we could use this thread to share ideas, ask questions, and even share recipes
I will start off with a question about Burleys. I have just received some Dark Burley, Cube Cut, and White Burley. Which of the three has the highest nicotine? In other words if I wanted to make me a burley blend with a decent mic hit which would be the best to use?

If the products you mentioned we're from 4noggins, the one with the highest nicotine would be the white burley.
The dark burley from them is also quite good. It has a nice, rather rich cocoa note. The cube cut is quite similar, I've found the benefit with the cube cut is a slower burn.
To be honest, I've never tried a strictly Burley blend. I've always added a bit of VA. The most I've done has probably been an 80/20 mixture.
I hope this helps a bit.

I will be using Va also, I was just asking about the Burleys. I also have some Red Va and some Perique coming. I don't know where the tobacco is from, it is being gifted to me by my brother.

I've found it's tricky with names. I ordered white burley from 4noggins expecting it to be similar to the "white shag burley" that the fusion lab had offered. It turned out to be more like the dark air cured burley, which has a high nic content and much less of a nutty/cocoa flavor.
I'd recommend smoking small samples individually to get a basis for what you're working with.
Happy Blending!

I have two blends on the go
First is a cocktail of baccy my sis bought from Hawaii for me.... after sitting under pressure for a few days actually turning into a nice smoke
Second is MacB Scottish Mix 50/50 with 1Q... the MacB has being stoved, almost to the point of looking like black cav. it is under pressure right now, going to give it a few more days
if a blend has a sour note to it... what can I do to sweeten it.. would mixing in some BCA do it?

Is the blend intended to have a bit of "tang", so to speak?
If the sour note is from a yellow VA, I've found that if you use a decent grade Burley, the cocoa note comes through quite nicely, effectively sweetening the blend.

Bob... Don't forget to write down your recipes, so that when you find a concoction you really enjoy, it can then be put into the PSU software so it never gets lost.

My tobacco arrived today and I dove right in. My brother sent me two ounces each of Dark Burley, White Burley, Red Virginia, and Perique.
I went with 1/4 ounce increments and put together a nice Burley/Va/Perique mixture.
Two parts Dark Burley, two parts Cubed, one part Red Va, and 1/2 part Perique. I am tempted to fire up a bowl but I am going to jar it and let the tobaccos marry. It smells wonderful, and I think this is going to be a winner.
