I understand your frustration, Fisher, but don't let the statistics get you down. It's the same kind of thing that often brings about the downfall of an otherwise good business. Numbers fall, so they start to cut back on the things that make their business special: service, variety, even the free coffee. Customers notice, and even more of them stop coming in, driving the whole thing into a downward spiral. I know it's a bit of a stretch for a metaphor, but people participating here are what makes this place special (including our magazine, which looks like it could use some content from us as well), but unlike a business, this investment in our forum doesn't cost us anything but a few minutes of time. Though I'm not historically a great starter of threads, I'll push myself to get some original things posted, rather than just waiting to comment on something someone else posted (well, I'll do that too, of course). I hope my little contributions help.

I must confess to also not posting. I look in probably 2-3 times a day, but I glance through the list of new posts, feel no need to comment, and go away again. Can't really explain why, except that I'm old and haven't anything useful to say!

While some were on summer break I was here plenty... now I'm getting busy with a heckuva semester. I'm posting as I can but sadly that's not as much as I'd like.

It seems most of us are experienced smokers so we don't get a lot of threads asking newbie questions which would keep the forum more active. Maybe we need to recruit some dudes who have recently started smoking a pipe. If I knew any, I would twist their arm to join.
