Coffee!!!
My mother is here for a visit and brought with her some Kona Coffee she received as a gift on a recent visit to Hawaii. This got me to thinking! Coffee to some people is a hobby, a sometimes expensive hobby. There are coffee's that sell for up to $160.00 a pound, multitudes of coffee makers, grinders, home roasters, etc etc. Coffee for me is just something that is required for me to consume in order to survive the day! Give me a Mr. Coffee Auto Drip, some Maxwell House, some Coffee Mate Creamer, and I am a happy camper!! What are your coffee preferences??

Oh man....
When I turned 19 I became allergic to coffee
my face broke out.... 20 years later I tried a cup and again my face broke out.... DAMN!!!
about 5 years ago, a friend of mine owns a coffee company offered me a cup and I told her about the allergy
She told me that I was allergic to the chemicals they use to process the coffee. She said to try hers because she has organically grown coffee and she does her own roasts and is chemical free
so I had what had to be the best coffee ever... her Sumatra french roast, the beans were shiny with oil
I didn't break out, the next morning I had another cup and still no break out...
Now every morning I grind the beans and use a french press with boiled filtered water and cream and sweetener, pure freak'n heaven
now I share this delight with a pipe in the morning

My regular drink is dark roasted beans from either Starbucks, a local roaster, or the local food co-op, when I get there. I've used many methods of brewing over the years, including electric and stove-top percolators (the latter of which can actually brew decent coffee if you pay attention and don't let them overheat or over-perk) and a couple of Bunn machines, but for the last couple of years I've been using a press pot with an electric kettle to heat the water. I used a little whiz-bang grinder for a long time, but though I could never really justify the expense, my mom gave me a burr grinder for my birthday last year. I really like the convenience of that. I like sugar in my coffee; I have no shame about that given how many great coffee recipes around the world call for sugar.
I do occasionally get out the Moka pot and a can of Cafe Bustelo and make some Cuban coffee, too.

Peet's coffee, Major Dickinson whole bean, prepared in a coffee press. It can't get better then this coffee and preparation method combination. Peet's coffee is available from many grocery stores or on-line.
