    Churchwarden Tobacco Suggestions

Hi all, I have a 7.5" Golden Gate Churchwarden pipe. It has a small bowl. Does anyone have suggestions as to what tobaccos would pair nicely with this petite pipe?

I don't care for Churchwardens but small bowls make for good flake smokers. FVF is always good in my smaller bowled pipes.

Penzance or Stonehaven would be winners. Also 1792 flake

Funny that you both recommend flake. I've recently smoked both FVF and McC Boston 1776 and I had my best results. Even though these Virginias are known for burning hot, they were quite tame in this pipe and I had my best smoke with this churchwarden with the 1776. I form it into a little ball that didn't touch the bottom and then sprinkled some of the loose flakes on to the top and lightly tamped. The result was a cool, tranquil smoke that lasted about 40 minutes. Thanks for your input. You have confirmed what my experience has shown. Flake for the churchwarden. I was beginning to think that I made a grave mistake purchasing this pipe. It is a handsome little devil and I am so glad that I now can enjoy it with good flake tobaccos.

Try some of C&D's VA's. I love "Opening Night" and "Manhattan Afternoon" in my CW.

Also, McClelland has some choice VA's. Blakeney's Best (through McC) "Tawny Flake" and "Bayou Slice" are excellent. I highly recommend "Epitome" also.

I would highly recommend Paladin Cherry Blend and Mixture 79.....
