Irish Seconds - Watson/XL 17
While not visually my favorite of the Sherlock Holmes collection, for general comfort, smokeability, and all those other good things the Watson is probably my favorite shape. I brought mine camping along with the CH & cob for some longer flake smokes, but I was a little bit nervous about taking that piece out into the wilderness. I believe I can assuage all future fears now. I just found this Irish Seconds for a song. It looks like there was a substantial flaw near the rim, but I must say I like the character the rustication adds! This will just need the smallest bit of TLC and it should be a gorgeous pipe and fine smoker in its own right.

Ain't it grand to have a pipe that can be a beater and classy at once! (-:
Snus, Snuff and Briar, what more can a soul require?
Enjoy your tobacco,

Sounds like a win/win to me.
I have a couple of meerscahum beater pipes that have done me great service over the years. I'm sure your Pete will provide the same pleasure.
