A great pipe day!
Spent all of yesterday shepherding a reporter, photographer and his assistant down the lower Jacks Fork River. They're doing an article on the impact of the Trail Rides on the ecology of the river. Lots of pics of horses walking in the river...and the inevitable results floating by. Finally got home exhausted, around six.
The whole gang stayed for "Gas Station chicken", potato wedges, and garden salad. Both the reporter and the photog are pipers! The photog had his Nording freehand on the float with him...after lunch, we sat on the gravel bar, smoking and talking pipes. He flipped when he saw me paddling standing up in the canoe, whilst puffing one of my briar shop pipes...he had to take some photos. We'll see if one makes it into the article..... :
Better yet, they liked my Bear's Dens, and bought one each! The assistant is a cute young gal...wasn't all that impressed. We sat on the patio with our pipes until almost ten, then they headed for the motel for a well deserved rest.
Reporter is headed back to California, and the photog is headed for a shoot in central Ohio. Cool thing...he's from Springfield MO and is into fly fishing....we'll be getting together this fall for a few days on the river.
Sorry for the ramble, but I just had to tell someone about this great day!!!

If he does, I'll post some here. Be warned however, I'm not all that easy to look at! I think he wanted them for some "Rouge's Gallery" of ugly old farts.....LOL

Floating a river/fly fishing and smoking a pipe makes a great combination. We're anxious to see the pics.
A pipe gives a wise man something to fiddle with as a means of gaining time to formulate an intelligent answer. It gives a fool something to stick into his mouth.

Sorry, didn't come up. Hey! I'm seventy...she's way too young and inexperienced for me. The kid is only in her early thirties....I'm not a cradle-robber!!!

Cool story. You should send the photographer my way and I'll help him more with his pipe skills. And she should stop by my wife's employer for his camera needs..
