    Change??

I am mainly a Burley, VaPer, and Va smoker. I also enjoy light English and Balkan blends, I have never liked aromatic blends. But here lately I have been craving a sweeter tobacco. I smoked a bowl of 1Q and actually really enjoyed it, which is very abnormal for me! C&D's Cross Eyed Cricket even sounds good right now, and I detest that blend. Now, I have been on a diet and have pretty much eliminated sugar from my diet. I have switched over to diet soda, unsweet tea (or sweetened with Splenda, no pies or cakes. Could this sudden craving for aromatic or sweet tobaccos be my body craving sugar? Have you ever experienced a change in your tobacco preferences?

Once in a while I like really sweet tobacco (called dessert blends by some smokers) such as Melange or Sweet Mystery but I can't handle a steady diet of them. I'm fond of McB's Latakia blend which I suspect has a bit of molasses in it.

That does seem to be an entirely reasonable bit of thinking to me... not that I have the experience or scientific know-how to confirm it. That said, if your body considers a bit of sweet aros an acceptable substitute for sugar, perhaps you're not so badly off

Bob, I went through the same thing.

Granted I always like aro's as well as the straight VA's as well as the burley's and the VA/Pers. The one day I woke up and I just had an insatiable craving for "sweet".

I actually just discovered an "aro" VA/Per I forgot I had...from Altadis "American Dream".

American Dream - A superb blend of Perique and Virginias complimented by a soothing mixture of vanilla, coffee, rum and honey.

I've also gone through the same thing. I can remember a time when I absolutely wouldn't touch an aro, but smoke them 4 or 5 times a week now. As a matter of fact, a bowl of 1Q sounds pretty good right about now. puffy.gif

I keep talking up Sutliff's Academy, too, also in this vein... "Bold and pleasing aromatic with spicy Latakia added for taste." May have to check out American Dream myself.
